Welcome to the Mafia!
Our Mission & Vision

The Mission (what we do):
The Huon Valley Alphabet Mafia provides a secure and welcoming environment for queer youth in the Valley.
Our main focus is fostering social connections, but we also offer young people the chance to encounter positive role models, receive mentorship, gain access to resources, and find understanding and support, all of which enhance wellbeing and community involvement.
We have a small (but growing) private library for Mafia members, and their family & friends, so that they can see themselves, their friendships, and relationships, represented in media. There are also educational, informative, resources for people trying to learn and figure things out.
We have DISCORD!* This is a private server (via invite) for Mafia members only.
We have MINECRAFT!* A dedicated Mafia Realm on Minecraft (bedrock edition playable on Windows 10 and 11, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile) that is permanently online and accessible.
To join our discord or minecraft realm you'll need to register with us. You can do that , and please include an email address so I can send you the invite codes.
(*Only available to youth living in the Huon Valley)
Amazing things happen when people come together.
The Vision (what we dream):
To grow our library to include a larger range of media which allows our youth to see themselves represented, answer questions, and understand themselves, in order to increase their wellbeing. The second goal of the library is to provide access to material that helps parents navigate their child's gender or sexual identity.
To hold space for our queer youth to grow into themselves, that they may have the confidence to thrive, proudly, in our community.
To participate in community events, giving the Huon Valley an opportunity to engage with our young people in a positive and respectful way.
Supporting the Mafia!
The Huon Valley Alphabet Mafia is 100% Volunteer run & funded by me, Sarah (you can learn more about me here).
ANY help is greatly appreciated!
The best way to support us at the moment is getting the word out! If you have a space where you can display a poster, or hand out flyers, you can print some off yourself via This Link or get in touch with Sarah who will load you up with flyers and handy cards to distribute.
If you'd rather your contribution be a bit more subtle, you could help out with catering, or help out with grant writing and submissions.
Do you have a cool skill that you'd like to impart onto our young people? I'd love to eventually host some creative workshops with our crew.
If you want to financially support us, you can do so by buying our merchandise through Our Spreadshirt Store. I've tried to keep the prices as reasonable as possible!
OR
You could buy something from our Amazon Wishlist OR our Booktopia Wishlist. (these items go towards our Library).
Because we aren't a Deductible Gift Recipient, any money given to us comes to me directly, treated as a GIFT, and is not a charitable donation and therefore not tax deductible. To learn more about DGR status click here to go to the ATO's website.
